MALAYSIAN AMBASSADOR PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF PORTUGAL
H.E. Ambassador with H.E. Mr. Annibal Antonio Cavaco Silva,
President of The Republic of Portugal
Paris, 2 June 2011 - H.E. Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Zainal, the Ambassador of Malaysia to France, accredited to Monaco and Portugal, presented his Credentials to His Excellency Mr. Annibal Antonio Cavaco Silva, President of the Portuguese Republic on Tuesday, 31 May 2011. The ceremony took place at the presidential palace “Palacio de Belem” in Lisbon.
Upon his arrival in Lisbon, H.E. Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Zainal was received by Mr. Afonso Laginha, Protocol officer from the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also met Mr. Jorge Santiago Neves, the Honorary Consul of Malaysia in Portugal. Prior to the ceremony, His Excellency Ambassador was briefed by the Portuguese Foreign Ministry Chief of Protocol, Mr. José de Bouza Serrano, on palace procedures for the credential ceremony.
The one-hour presentation ceremony at the Palace was attended by senior government officials from the Palace as well as Portuguese Foreign Minister, Mr. Luis Amado. Following the presentation of credentials, H.E. Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Zainal together with other non-resident Ambassadors accredited to Portugal were accorded with a simple reception hosted by the Palace.
During his visit to Lisbon, the Ambassador was accompanied by Mr. Mohd. Faris Jazlan bin Ramli, Counsellor (Student Affairs) of the Embassy of Malaysia in Paris.
